In 1957 a recent immigrant who could barely speak any English, Lucia Rosella, opened Adelaide’s first pizza bar in the Adelaide Central Market. Today Lucia’s daughters and grandchildren keep her legacy alive by serving her traditional recipes some 60 years later.
Pizza was a foreign delicacy in the early days of Lucia’s, but now it is a staple for many who have devoured relaxed lunches or quick bites at the favoured Adelaide establishment.
