Located proudly in the middle of Rundle Mall is Tasting Australia’s Urban Pantry and Cellar Door, where visitors can sample an array of South Australian regional produce.
They can also get up close and personal with some of the festival’s chefs and food producers during daily question and answer sessions.
Complete with a pop-up outlet of local roasters and baristas Monday’s Coffee Shop, the pantry is open until Sunday May 7 and encourages visitors to enjoy free food and drink samples, participate in competitions and discover some of the state’s best food products.
“People visiting Rundle Mall can expect to taste a wide range of produce from across South Australia, including cheese, smallgoods, olives, nuts and crackers, ice cream, chocolate, honey, specialty coffee and tea, and more,” says Amanda Grocock, General Manager of Rundle Mall Management Authority, which is presenting the stall.
With the program changing daily, the Urban Pantry also offers a free self-guided Grazing Trail through Rundle Mall, from Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7. Visitors can explore the mall and surrounding laneways at their own pace, collecting free samples at 10 different locations. Collect the trail map and free tote bag filled with South Australian goodies from the Urban Pantry and set off to discover such hidden gems as The Propaganda Club, Two Bit Villains and Lindes Lane.
The Urban Pantry is a new attraction in the Tasting Australia program, and Rebecca is keen to highlight the convenience it provides for food and drink lovers. “People don’t have to book or pay to visit, just enjoy tasting mouth-watering food from our great state,” she said.
