Australian distillers are invited to participate in the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards presented by MasterCask; a celebration of all things distilled around Australia.
The Australian distilling industry is one of the fastest growing and most diverse in the world, and these awards aim to recognise that ingenuity and energy and celebrate the industry’s achievements.
Judging of the 2020 Tasting Australia Spirits Awards will once again be led by World Whisky Award Hall of Fame inductee Bill Lark of Tasmania’s Lark Distillery who is credited with reigniting Tasmania’s whisky industry and has accumulated global accolades for his uniquely Australian spirits.
Entrants are invited to attend the Awards presentation that will follow judging to see which Australian distillers will be named the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards winners for 2020. Following the announcement of the results, guests can taste the medal-winning top drops and meet the makers behind the bottles.
TASTING AUSTRALIA SPIRIT AWARDS NEW 2020 DATES
As you are aware, the decision was made last week to postpone Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel for 2020 following the Federal Government’s announcement regarding holding any non-essential public gatherings above 500 people. The postponement includes the judging of the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards presented by MasterCask.
We have been working closely with our event partners this past week to secure new dates for Tasting Australia and we are pleased to announce that Tasting Australia will be held from
Friday 9 – Sunday 18 October 2020.
The judging of the 2020 Tasting Australia Spirit Awards will take place from
Monday 5 – Wednesday 7 October, with the results to be announced on Friday 9 October. We know there may be questions, and we have tried to answer some of them below –
What will happen to my entry fee and samples?
All paid-up entrants have the option to remain in the Awards with Tasting Australia to securely store all product until October.
Alternatively, you are entitled to a full refund and to have your product returned to you. We will be contacting all entrants over the coming weeks to ascertain their preference.
The product I entered is not likely to still meet the requirements for held finished bottled stock come October, what do I do?
You are entitled to withdraw this product and have your entry fee refunded. You can also update your entry with new batch details or swap it out for a new product closer to the time if you want to remain in the Awards.
Will you be accepting new or additional entries?
Yes. We will reopen entries later in the year. We will let you know when our online portal has been reactivated.
Will there be any change to the rules and conditions of entry?
No. As the Awards have been postponed, not cancelled, the rules and conditions of entry as published in January will remain.

- Judging: Tuesday 6 October & Wednesday 7 October
