A glass of Grange needs an exceptional food pairing. That’s where the Grange Sandwich comes in.
Make your way to Penfolds’ Magill Estate Kitchen for this delectable creation, available for lunch each day during Tasting Australia. Sandwich specifics: a French baguette is split down the middle. Welsh rarebit covers one half, while the other is layered with smoked Mayura Station wagyu beef, mustard and pickles. Magill Estate Kitchen head chef Scott Huggins recommends pushing the two sides together and dipping into a beef bone jus. Together with a glass of Grange, it’s a match made in culinary heaven. You’re also most welcome to stay a little longer for an extensive Grange tasting. You’ll find historic Penfolds Magill Estate nestled in the foothills eight kilometres east of Adelaide. It’s home to the original Penfolds vineyard established by Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold in 1844. The property offers two dining options: its Magill Estate Restaurant delivers one of Australia’s finest food and wine experiences, while the Magill Estate Kitchen provides a more casual counterpoint with a grazing menu featuring local and seasonal produce. Both are helmed by Huggins, whose 17-year-career to date has included stints at Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain and Singapore.
