The final garnishes are being added to the plate, as the Tasting Australia 2020 (27 March - 5 April 2020) event program is finalised, with a new flavour added to the creative direction.

Outgoing Programming Director, Jock Zonfrillo will leave the event in safe hands, choosing to focus on new projects in The Orana Foundation. Jock’s departure after three years, comes after significant growth to the festival, and with the introduction of guest programmers for the 2020 Festival which continues to have Festival Director Simon Bryant leading the charge.

Hitaf Rasheed, Executive Director, Events South Australia says Jock Zonfrillo is one of the best in the business and the Tasting Australia festival has been all the richer for his involvement.

“Jock has made a significant contribution since joining Tasting Australia, bringing about accelerated growth and creating a legacy we can long continue, while attracting the nation’s and the world’s best culinary talent to South Australia,” said Hitaf Rasheed.

“When Jock joined our team, we thought if we had him sit at our table for one or two years that would be amazing knowing the breadth of his commitments, and working together for three years, has been a real gift and for this we thank him.”

Whilst Jock Zonfrillo may have hung up his apron as one of Tasting Australia’s Creative Team with his role as Programming Director he said he was really proud to have been part of this event.

“I am so proud to have been part of the Tasting Australia team for the last three years, we have attracted some of the best talent across Australia and the world to South Australia.”

“I have had the opportunity to work side-by-side with Simon Bryant which will remain a highlight of my career. He’s an amazing human who I respect immensely, I’ve never witnessed a harder and more determined worker than him,” said Jock Zonfrillo.

“Moving on at this time is right for me - it creates space for a new approach for the festival, and also allows me more time to spend on new projects in The Orana Foundation.”

Simon Bryant, Festival Director of Tasting Australia since 2014, has loved working with Jock Zonfrillo to deliver the last three editions of the event and understands more than anyone the time needed to commit to this role.

“I have loved having Jock by my side for this crazy ride and we have created some of the most unique experiences together, for this I thank him and know he is only ever a phone call away. I know when he says Tasting Australia really is the best food and wine event in Australia, he means it, as we know he just doesn’t say things for the sake of it,” Simon Bryant said.

“Having the Jock Zonfrillo seal of approval has added great kudos and credibility to an already brilliant event, opening the door for us to be involved in more conversations with more chefs, creating a demand for their involvement.”

Simon Bryant said, “Jock’s decision to finish service with Tasting Australia has enabled us to review and look at ways to ensure the Festival continues to be innovative in its program approach and create an opportunity for others in the industry to become involved.”

Next year’s event will introduce a series of chefs as a core part of the programming process who will bring back their mentors and influencers from around the globe to create amazing eating and drinking experiences.
