Friday 30th April
Join us in Town Square for the opening night of Tasting Australia! Soak in the atmosphere, grab a delectable dinner from one of our fantastic Town Square vendors, and grab a drink with friends from one of our many Town Square bars.
While you’re there, be sure to check out one of our East End Cellars Masterclasses. Perhaps you want to follow the Pirate Life crew on an epic journey of discovery as they chronicle one of the world’s most beloved alcoholic beverages in Liquid History. Or if spirits are more your thing, join Spirit Awards Cocktail Libation to enjoy beverages made with the winning entries to the latest Tasting Australia Spirit Awards Presented by Master Cask, slung by Adelaide’s top bartenders.
Saturday 1st May
Spend your Saturday learning the tricks of the trade from the best of the best with The Advertiser and TAFE SA’s ever popular L Plates cooking series. You can learn how to make pasta from scratch, fold dumplings or make amazing sourdough like the artisan bakers do. With 16 classes across both morning and afternoon time slots, there’s something to keep everybody entertained.. and yummy creations to eat along the way!
Then head to a tastebud tantalising dinner on Gouger Street at Xiao Long Kan for the World Famous Chinese Dining Experience. Combining the best cuts of premium meats such as wagyu beef, fresh prawns, and pork ribs, with local produce and mouth-watering flavours, this dining experience is Chinese food at its best.
And to top off the day, why not pop back in to Town Square for some Shibui dessert and a night cap?!
Sunday 2nd May
Enjoy a late start to your Sunday after the fun and excitement of your Saturday night. We then suggest heading to the Adelaide Hills for a long lunch as the afternoon sun slowly sinks with the Lobo Orchard Feast, a celebration of the Lenswood harvest. Pre-lunch drinks and canapés will be served ahead of a leisurely four-course meal featuring local poultry, cheese and fruit. Add a return bus transfer to ensure you can sip matched spirits and Lobo cider while gazing across the vistas this region is loved for.
Monday 3rd May
Kick start your week with a visit Adelaide’s famous Rundle Mall. Take a pic with the Malls Balls then head to the Gawler Place Canopy to expand your cooking skills with live demonstrations and tastings with Urban Kitchen with Sprout. Watch as these talented chefs whip up mouth-watering recipes using their favourite local produce from South Australian regional producers, sample an amazing range of local products to stock up your own pantry, then set out to find delicious eateries and homeware retailers throughout the Precinct.
After a day of exploring and shopping, rest your feet at The Oxford Hotel for Monday Steak Out Presented by Australian Good Meat. You’ve never had a counter meal like this before. Curious cuts cooked to perfection by a contingent of Sydney stars: Morgan McGlone of Belle’s Hot Chicken, Luke Powell from LP’s Quality Meats and Louis Tikaram of E.P. & L.P. (Los Angeles) fame. Brisbane young gun Alanna Sapwell – of the pop-up Esmay – rounds out the line-up.
Tuesday 4th May
Head to the Barossa - Seppeltsfield to be exact - and enjoy a long, relaxed and delicious lunch at Fino & Friends – Producers, Winemakers & a Fino Long Lunch. Executive chef Sam Smith will showcase restaurant specialties and newly curated dishes using fare from the Barossa and beyond. Delicious food deserves delicious drinks. Fino has called on its network of passionate producers, who will be on hand to pour beverages and share their stories.
Wednesday 5th May
Let’s head south of the city this time, visiting stunning Selicks Hill for a four-course dinner celebrating seasonal produce and Wendouree wines with Wendouree Dinner at The Victory. The Victory Hotel is a South Australian institution and is well known for its vast collection of Wendouree wines. In fact, their cellar stocks every wine Wendouree has ever produced from 1998 up until the current 2018 vintage! A truly exclusive and exciting opportunity to taste one-of-a-kind wine.
Thursday 6th May
For one night only Lambert Estate Wines comes to 1918 Bistro & Grill for a dinner highlighting one of the world’s most celebrated ingredients – wagyu. And we recommend you check it out! 1918 X Lambert Estate X Wagyu is a six-course dinner with each dish showcasing an element of wagyu, with each course to be paired with a glass of Lambert Estate wine.
Friday 7th May
On Friday we recommend you take a day trip to Kangaroo Island – and it’s made easy with return air transfer, ground transport, and lunch with Oceanview Eco Villas Kangaroo Island Producers Lunch. Explore McLaren Vale across the day with events celebrating the renowned region.
First off, Meet the Winemaker at the beautiful Beresford Estate. Beresford Wines is hosting a six-wine flight led by their Chief Winemaker. Guests will try Beresford wines including the Angelique premium cuvée, Estate grenache, Estate shiraz and cabernet sauvignon and sparkling shiraz and each will be complemented by a tasting plate of regional canapés.
Then, top off your day and head to Chalk Hill for a four-course Italian feast with The Long Table. Italian food? Check. Gin and wine? Check. Some of the best views of McLaren Vale? Check! This is your chance to experience one of McLaren Vale's most talked-about new venues like never before.
Sunday 9th May
On the final day of our festival, settle in for a five-course set menu lunch and an afternoon of Indian culinary education that will change the way you think about the cuisine with Ragini’s “I Hate Curry”. The day’s lunch menu promises to pack a punch of flavour and fragrance, giving you the chance to get up close and personal with the chef behind it.
We then recommend heading into Town Square one last time to experience our East End Cellars Masterclass Dark & Delicious – Fortified Wines Matched with Chocolate. Rich. Lavish. All-consuming — and a bit wicked.
