George in the Riviera
Dinner with the Guroos of Kangaroo Island
Mon 2nd May 2022 at 18:30Price from $220
Gather at East End favourite Mother Vine for dinner in celebration of Kangaroo Island’s delicious produce and dynamic wines.
This Tasting Australia event will highlight the Guroo project, founded in 2019 to showcase the potential of Kangaroo Island as a source of premium wines. Three stars of mainland winemaking – Charlotte Hardy of Port Elliot’s Charlotte Dalton Wines, Stephen George (Ashton Hills/Wendouree) and Sue Bell of Bellwether Wines in Coonawarra – have produced wine with Kangaroo Island grapes under the Guroo label. The trio will join guests to share the results and are also set to showcase bottles from their respective mainland ranges. Expect a sumptuous three-course meal from Mother Vine head chef Ramon Tampos featuring the finest Kangaroo Island produce, and conversation covering food, wine, ferry trips and tall tales of island adventure.
The Guroo project took its name from Kanguroo Island – the spelling Matthew Flinders used for this precious part of South Australia. Each participating winemaker was chosen for the guru status earned through working with various grape varieties. The logic? If these legends can’t make a great wine from Kangaroo Island, it simply can’t be done. See for yourself at this truly one-off occasion.
This event can cater to vegetarian, coeliac and dairy free dietary requirements. For any other requirements please contact the event organiser prior to purchasing.
