Maggie. It’s a name synonymous with South Australia, one evoking the warmth and generosity that have defined a local legend for decades.
This exclusive Tasting Australia event is an opportunity to celebrate Maggie Beer AM, to enjoy her signature farm-fresh fare and dishes from top chefs inspired by its easy elegance. It’s set to be a joyful, abundant occasion – the perfect way to kick off an autumn weekend.
Expect ingredients from Maggie’s beloved Barossa to feature: the region and its seasonal produce have always been at the heart of her cooking. Premium beverages will be paired with each course.
Also set to star in this Town Square Kitchen experience: Victorian Sharon Flynn, considered Australia’s foremost expert in fermentation. The microbiome master has spent more than 20 years immersing herself in the ancient art of slow fermentation, a process that saw her spend time in Malaysia, Japan, Europe and the United States ahead of establishing her business The Fermentary in Daylesford.
Two South Australian stars will also join the lineup. Fino Vino and Fino Seppeltsfield owner and executive chef David Swain is passionate about all things finely crafted. Attention to detail has kept him atop the state’s restaurant scene for more than a decade, with his food guided by ever-changing ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
Tasting Australia food curator Emma McCaskill is also set to bring her extraordinary skill to this event. The Adelaide-based star launched her career after watching Maggie (and Tasting Australia patron Simon Bryant) in The Cook and The Chef, ultimately going on to work at restaurants including Tetsuya’s, Sat Bains, Ezard and Penfolds Magill Estate.

Our menus utilise regional produce at the height of its season and take months of careful planning. Many of the dishes featured will not be adaptable for particular dietary requirements.
