Overview

Walk with two of the Barossa’s best-known families – Henschke and Angas – as they share their dedication, passion and respect for all they grow and make. Both families relax with you while traversing special sites across the Barossa’s Eden Valley. Esteemed Barossa chef Mark McNamara will join you with a little sustenance at intervals on this five-kilometre stroll, before serving up a generous Barossa lunch.

Your day will begin at Henschke’s historic Keyneton Cellar Door to meet the family at the heart of their winemaking establishment before travelling to the Gnadenberg Church alongside the Henschke Hill of Grace vineyard. The Angas family will guide you over a gentle hill to Hutton Vale Farm’s classified Barossa Old Vine riesling vineyard, tasting the quintessential white wine of the region. This will be followed by a gentle amble to Ronald Angas’s 1912 shiraz plantings, the source of fruit for Henschke Mount Edelstone and the beginning of these two families becoming entwined as neighbours, collaborators and friends.

The ultimate tasting will come at the peak of Mt Edelstone with a shiraz trio of Hill of Grace, Hutton Vale Farm and Mount Edelstone, and 360-degree views of northern Eden Valley. Wander back to Hutton Vale Farm’s courtyard for lunch, with a special selection of family wines, conversation and friendship. This Tasting Australia event brings you a day of living like a true Barossan.
