Brumby Hut Lobster and Lamb
Thu 9th May 2024 at 12:00 PM
This Limestone Coast adventure illuminates Australian history and the best regional fare of today. Guests will gather at The Brumby Hut, based in bushland on a working lamb property, for a four-course long lunch with paired local beer and wines.
A maximum of 30 guests are invited to relax around the hut’s fireplace, discovering how buildings of its kind were used early last century during fickle weather by cattlemen of the Australian alpine high country – and the impasse between bushwalking and the brumbies of today.
The day’s set menu will feature Limestone Coast favourites including lamb rump with garlic-roasted vegetables, lobster baked over coals and a dessert of crème brûlée, with paired wines including selections from Padthaway Farmers Leap and Wynns of Coonawarra. Complete the afternoon with pétanque on the lawns, a bird-watching walk around the property’s lake or time beside the outdoor fire ring.
This Tasting Australia event is an opportunity to stay overnight in the region, with Coonawarra and Bordertown within easy reach. Proceeds will help community foundation Stand Like Stone to continue its important philanthropic work.
