Tasting Australia returns to tantalise Tastebuds in 2020

After record-breaking attendances this year, Australia’s pre-eminent eating, drinking and tourism experience festival Tasting Australia will return to Adelaide and regions in 2020, from March 27 to April 5.

The 10-day Autumn event will once again showcase the best of South Australian food, wine and tourism destinations across the state in what will be the 14th edition of the festival and the fourth year it has been annual.

This year’s Tasting Australia was the most popular in the event’s history, with a record 64,000 people visiting free hub Town Square in Victoria Square over the 10 days of the festival – up from last year’s total attendance of 54,000.

Minister for Tourism, Trade and Investment David Ridgway said Tasting Australia generated significant economic growth and trade opportunities for the local industry.

“Tasting Australia is a world-class festival which not only showcases our exceptional local producers, chefs and winemaking talent in stunning locations across the state, it generates significant economic growth potential for local industry seeking new and emerging export opportunities,” said Minister Ridgway.

Events South Australia Acting Executive Director Andrew Fotheringham said Tasting Australia’s benefits extended beyond its economic impact.

“Every year Tasting Australia turns our State into a true international culinary hotspot, bringing top chefs, winemakers and industry leaders from all over the world to try our amazing produce and wine, and work with our incredible local talent,” he said.

“The festival not only brings vibrancy and activity across the State, but allows local producers and chefs to make important international connections that can develop into future opportunities.”

Established in 1997 and managed by Events South Australia, Tasting Australia is Australia’s longest running eating and drinking festival. The 2019 festival featured more than 70 Michelin-starred and award-winning chefs, winemakers and other culinary experts from around the world in more than 160 events across 12 regions, from Adelaide to the Barossa, Fleurieu, Riverland and Kangaroo Island.
