Kate Goodman is a renowned and award-winning winemaker with a career spanning over two decades. Her journey in winemaking began with early work at Wirra Wirra, Seppelts, and Punt Road Wines, where she honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the art and science of winemaking. These formative years allowed her to refine her craft and set the stage for her remarkable career.
In addition to her contributions to established wineries, Goodman embarked on her own winemaking and consulting venture with Goodman Wines, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect her unique vision and style.
The past seven years have seen Goodman undertake the challenge of reinventing the wine program at Coonawarra’s Penley Estate. This endeavour showcased her adaptability, innovation and ability to push the boundaries of winemaking.
Goodman’s talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed within the industry. She was awarded a prestigious Len Evans Tutorial scholarship in 2007 and took part in the Industry Future Leaders Program in 2008. In 2019 she was recognised as the Women in Wine Winemaker of the Year. As a crowning achievement in her illustrious career, Goodman was named the Winemaker of the Year in the prestigious Halliday Wine Companion for 2024.
