Kate Laurie obtained her winemaking qualification at the Lycée Viticole d’Avize in Champagne while working at numerous small houses in the Côe des Blancs and in Burgundy.

After returning to Western Australia, Laurie joined her parents in Manjimup to work at their family winery Stone Bridge before leaving in 2001 to join her husband Hamish and create Deviation Road Wines in the Adelaide Hills. She continues to produce premium sparkling wine and is dedicated to understanding the nuances of chardonnay and pinot noir in both their sparkling and still styles.

Laurie has been judging wine shows around Australia over the past decade, and completed the Len Evans Tutorial in 2016.

She has three daughters, and enjoys the luxury of living, working and breathing wine from their own property in the Adelaide Hills.
