Offering an already bursting program of events across Adelaide and regional South Australia, Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel continues to serve up unique culinary experiences with Uni Days set to take over the University of Adelaide on Saturday April 29.
Uni Days is a celebration of delicious eats, quality drinks and live music, headlined by one of the country’s leading food figures: Adam Liaw alongside Rolling Stone Australia’s best new artist 2022: King Stingray.
A University of Adelaide graduate, Liaw will curate a range of Asian-inspired dishes highlighting fresh South Australian produce. The dishes will be served across several food stalls in what is set to be a fun, interactive eating experience.
Guests will have the opportunity to chat with Liaw throughout the night with The Cook Up host looking forward to heading back to his old stomping ground for the event.
“As an Adelaidean who attended the University of Adelaide, it is amazing to be coming back for Tasting Australia – I experienced so many great parties during my time at uni, Uni Days will feel like I am rekindling my youth,” said Mr Liaw.
“People can expect to taste food I love to cook at home, made with beautiful South Australian produce. Many of the dishes will highlight indigenous ingredients – these flavours go so well with Asian cuisine. This event is set to be a night to remember!”
Joining the fun is Yolngu surf rock band King Stingray – the band tells a story of lifelong friendship and two cultures coming together. Founding members Yirrŋa Yunupiŋu and Roy Kellaway have been playing and making music as they grew up together in Yirrkala in North-East Arnhem Land.
Guitarist Roy Kellaway is thrilled the band will perform in South Australia for Tasting Australia.
“We can’t wait to head back to South Australia to perform at Uni Days as part of the Tasting Australia festival,” said Mr Kellaway.
“Last time we were in Adelaide the crowds were amazing and we look forward to sharing more stories through our music this April.”
The University of Adelaide’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), Dr Jessica Gallagher wants Uni Days to provide an opportunity for current students, staff, alumni and community members to create new memories and connections.
“We are thrilled that Adam Liaw, an alumnus, will be joining us back where it all began for him – we know Adam will curate a very special menu for the celebration,” said Dr Gallagher.
“Our vision is to create a really fun event for locals, visitors and alumni that encapsulates some of the great things about being on campus – hanging with friends and enjoying great food and drink while listening to iconic live music.”
Tickets to Uni Days are $60 per person and are on sale now via www.tastingaustralia.com.au.
Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel runs from Friday 28 April to Sunday 7 May 2023 across Adelaide and regional South Australia.
