On the back of blockbuster crowds at the 2022 Tasting Australia presented by RAA Travel, the nation’s premier eating and drinking festival will make a comeback this winter.
The Tasting Australia Winter Series will run throughout the month of July with a curated selection of events across Adelaide and regional South Australia highlighting the state’s producers, produce and places.
Patrons will enjoy a host of unique events spanning the state including a wine dinner at McLaren Vale’s exclusive Beresford House – a space not usually available to the public and a collaboration between esteemed chefs Kane Pollard (Topiary) and Tom Tilbury (Press Food and Wine) highlighting locally foraged wild ingredients at Victoria Park Social Club.
The return of the Winter Series follows a stellar run for Tasting Australia 2022, which saw 200 events take place in 10 days across the state and over 60,000 visitors through the festival hub, Town Square, in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga – the biggest crowds since the pandemic began.
Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said the Winter Series builds on the festival’s popularity to extend the benefits of this major annual event through the year.
“With the colder weather approaching, it is fabulous to have another delicious instalment of Tasting Australia events to further boost South Australia’s world-class hospitality industry,” said Ms Bettison.
“Following such high numbers visiting Town Square this year for the autumn festival, it’s great to get behind another event that champions the people and produce of South Australia. It really solidifies the state’s position as the go-to destination for food and beverage in Australia.”
Co-festival director Karena Armstrong is thrilled to be highlighting South Australia’s abundant produce and producers.
“Both the chefs and guests at this year’s Tasting Australia were delighted with the outcomes of the autumn festival,” said Ms Armstrong.
“With such demand from venues, talent and patrons we knew we had to bring back the festival’s second Winter Series and shine a light on the produce, producers and food and beverage stories waiting to be told in South Australia.”
