Chef-turned-sommelier-turned-winemaker Adam Foster has carved out a significant identity for himself on the global wine stage, both making Rhône-inspired reds under his Syrahmi imprint from Heathcote, as well as savoury Sangiovese, Macedon Pinot Noir and Chardonnay under the Garden of Earthly Delights label.
Once somewhat itinerant, having worked vintages with Chapoutier, Stéphane Ogier, Torbreck, Pierre Gaillard to name a few, Foster has now set down roots in Tooborac, at the southern end of Heathcote, with his young family and wife Pip. It is here in 2017 where they planted their Home Block High Density Vineyard, where Adam says he’s been able to challenge the status quo by putting his theory into practice. A theory that most said would never work but has exceeded all expectations!
The yet to be released 2021 Syrahmi Home Block was recently announced as the top rated Australian Shiraz by Anotnio Galloni’s Vinous publication, further cementing both Foster's and this vineyard's reputation.
