Adam Wadewitz is a University of Adelaide oenology graduate and has worked in the Adelaide Hills, Werribee, McLaren Vale, the Hunter Valley plus stints in France, Chile and the USA. Over the last decade he has made a reputation for himself in Great Western at Seppelt’s and Best’s, where he made the 2012 Jimmy Watson Trophy winner, the 2011 Best’s Bin 1 Shiraz, and now as Joint CEO and Chief Winemaker at Shaw + Smith.
Adam’s CV is an enviable one. He was Joint Dux of the Len Evans Tutorial 2009, Gourmet Traveller WINE Winemaker of the Year Finalist 2010, Young Gun of Wine Finalist 2011 and has judged at the prestigious capital city wine shows of Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, where he was the youngest judge to serve as a Panel Chair. He is the current Chair of Judges at the Tasmanian Wine Show.
As Joint CEO and Chief Winemaker at Shaw and Smith, Adam works closely with founding winemaker Martin Shaw on both Shaw + Smith’s Adelaide Hills wines and the Tolpuddle Vineyard wines from Tasmania’s Coal River Valley.
Adam is a partner with Martin Shaw, Michael Hill Smith MW, and David LeMire MW in the MMAD Vineyard, located in Blewitt Springs, and home to rare old vines of Grenache and Shiraz.
