Established in 1850, Bleasdale has a long and distinguished history in the South Australian wine industry. Senior Winemaker Paul Hotker inherited a brand of wine with more than 160 years of family winemaking experience, but is more than doing his part in leading Bleasdale into the next stage of its life.
Throughout his career, Hotker has covered all stages of the grape-growing and winemaking process, starting in the industry as a viticulturist in the early 1990s, before transitioning into winemaking in 1999 (via a few other careers, one being bicycle messenger).
Upon graduation of his Oenology degree in 2002, Hotker made the move across the ditch to Marlborough, New Zealand where he worked at Nautilus Estate for four years before returning to Australia. He joined Bleasdale in 2007 and he and his team continue to impress with the quality of wine produced, having had incredible success on the national wine show circuit over recent years.
