Professionally, Rosa Matto describes herself as a teacher first, chef second. Her long career as cookery teacher, caterer, consultant and writer spans four decades.
She has worked in Rome, Sicily, and Indonesia for long periods of time. Her recipes have been published worldwide but these days her greatest satisfaction is to grow her own fresh fruit and vegetables and support the emerging cohort of talent.
Matto writes and creates recipes for SALife and teaches cookery skills to adults with an intellectual disability. She is patron of Nonna’s Cucina – a meal delivery service for the elderly – and is food ambassador for Bene Aged Care, where she has organised activities for many decades. Through her vast volunteering advocacies she puts her hard-earned skills to good use and allows others to teach her – about life, love and caring for the community.
