Register for Waiters' Race

Service! Local waiters will gather on Sunday 17 May for this South Australian spin on a classic international competition. Pace and poise are the order of the day – who will be first to finish with their tray contents intact?

Tasting Australia is taking inspiration from waiters’ races first held more than a century ago in cities like London and Paris to celebrate front-of-house teams and their grace under pressure.

All the fun is set to begin in the north-east corner of Town Square. We’ll have Mark Soderstrom on hand to send entrants on their way, with each waiter carrying the same set of items. From there contestants will head towards the southern side of Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, navigating a road crossing and skirting the Three Rivers Fountain before turning for home. They will enter Town Square through our main gate and race along a paved path to the finish, all while battling to keep their order upright.

We know South Australian hospitality teams are top notch, but who will earn the title of fastest waiter when the heat is on? Share the excitement as we find out.
