Discover the true spirit of the Yorke Peninsula at Fire + Flour + Fiddles, an immersive fire-to-table dining experience set within the historic stone walls of Halcyon Stables. This soulful evening brings together elemental cooking, regional seafood, rustic storytelling and live folk music to celebrate the Peninsula’s deep connection to both land and sea.

The experience begins outdoors at golden hour, where the theatre of open-fire cooking unfolds. Flames crackle and embers glow as chef Peter Clarke of Vintners and his team prepare a menu inspired by the region’s coastline, farmland and seasons. Guests can expect a celebration of Yorke Peninsula seafood, with selected dishes prepared over open fire and others thoughtfully composed to highlight freshness, balance and flavour. Alongside the seafood, seasonal vegetables, heritage grains and slow-cooked meats reflect the resourcefulness and simplicity of early settler cooking.

Guests enjoy seafood-inspired canapés and drinks around the fire before moving inside the beautifully restored Halcyon Stables. Inside, long tables set beneath timber beams and soft candlelight create a warm, intimate atmosphere that reflects the generosity and understated elegance of country hospitality. The feast opens with a signature moment: the breaking of giant wood-fired sourdough loaves made from local grain — a symbol of shared harvest, community and connection.

Throughout the evening, a local storyteller shares stories of early agricultural life, from traditions to communal meals that sustained rural communities. Live folk music provides a nostalgic acoustic soundtrack, echoing the rhythms and resilience of country life.

Course by course, the menu celebrates the flavours and stories of the Yorke Peninsula, finishing with shared dessert platters featuring seasonal produce.
