We are pleased to advise that the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards presented by Master Cask are scheduled to go ahead in September 2020 as part of the Tasting Australia Local program. Judging will take place in Adelaide from 21 – 23 September.
The awards presentation will take place on Saturday 26 September in the Adelaide CBD and will also be streamed online for those unable to physically attend. We will be hosting an industry specific event and a concurrent public facing event – more details on both will be communicated in the coming weeks.
Both events will take place in line with current COVID restrictions and guidelines from SA Health.
We plan to keep the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards presented by Master Cask during the spring months outside of festival dates in subsequent years. This decision comes after consultation with industry and partners and brings with it many added benefits for entrants including –
- Distilleries will be able to better market products into the busy summer selling period to see the value of the awards
- Award winners will be featured more significantly in Tasting Australia’s festival programming in autumn the following year. We are currently working through these opportunities and are very excited about the possibilities
- Moving the awards allows us to create a stronger networking event for the awards with more media exposure to be generated
The Awards will re-open for entries on Friday 31 July for a four-week period. This is an opportunity for Australian distilleries to enter additional products, change existing entries, or to enter for the first time. Entrants who have already paid for and submitted product will proceed to judging unless we are notified otherwise. We will also be announcing our judging panel on this date.
We understand it is and has been a difficult, uncertain time for the Australian spirits industry. We are hoping that the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards can celebrate the efforts and collaborative strength of the industry considering the extraordinary circumstances of 2020 so far.
We are confident that South Australia can host the judging and the awards in a physical format, however given the moving feast of the current climate, we will develop contingencies in the instance this is not possible.
We look forward to welcoming you to South Australia this spring to enjoy a tipple with us – whether that be in person or virtually!
