Masterclass - Seppeltsfield Grounds Collection: Single Vineyard Shiraz
Sun 17th May 2026 at 1:30 PM
This special masterclass will showcase the early release of Seppeltsfield Barossa’s premium 2024 Grounds Single Vintage Shiraz. Gather for an exclusive opportunity to taste the 2024 Grounds Collection a full six months before its market release.
Enjoy a Sunday afternoon with friends and passionate wine enthusiasts, learning why the 2024 Grounds Collection is so unique. It will be the first time Seppeltsfield has offered a complete Grounds Collection - with the winemakers choosing to bottle all four of the 'grounds’ using single vineyard Shiraz.
Chief winemaker Fiona Donald, together with colleagues Julian Birmingham, Seppeltsfield’s chief viticulturist and an expert from Barossa Australia, will take you inside a study conducted by Barossa Australia and Seppeltsfield to evaluate and bring the four points of the compass to life through this rare collection.
On arrival guests will enjoy a glass of 2025 Barossa Seppeltsfield Shiraz, tempting their palates and setting the scene for a tasting of all four Single Vineyard Grounds Shiraz wines to be enjoyed during this hour-long masterclass.
Be there to celebrate Seppeltsfield’s 175th anniversary – and the final day of Tasting Australia 2026 – in style.
The Grounds Collection
Seppeltsfield ‘Grounds’ releases are a study of shiraz, the Barossa’s hero grape, and seek to express the differences between their single-vineyard regional sites.
As its interpretation of Barossa terroir, Seppeltsfield Grounds releases seek to apply a beguiling simplicity to what in European terms is often a complex relationship between geography, geology, climate and history.
Seppeltsfield single vineyard Grounds Shiraz expressions take inspiration from a comprehensive study of the Barossa’s sub-regionality. This collaborative project, led by the Barossa Grape & Wine Association, unites winemakers – including Seppeltsfield’s Fiona Donald – with grapegrowers and soil and climatic science experts to evaluate and identify variations in shiraz wine expression across the region.
Through controlled winemaking studies and regular tastings, clear distinction across north, south, east and west compass points of the Barossa have been found. The Grounds study emphasises the diversity of expression possible with Barossa shiraz, and how significantly place can influence it.
