We’re off to the movies in the most delicious of ways. Gather at North Adelaide’s Piccadilly Cinema for a special one-off screening of 90s favourite Big Night – an ode to the magic of restaurants – together with a welcome drink and generous selection of dishes from chefs Mark Best, Nicola Palmer and Shannon Fleming.

You know Best from his remarkable 17-year stint leading Sydney’s Marque: a restaurant feted for the consummate craft behind every element. Today he shares his knowledge as a culinary advisor, recently opening the five-star Ritz Carlton in Melbourne and now consulting to The Calile in Brisbane. For this Tasting Australia experience he’ll prepare two snacks to enjoy with a glass of wine, beer – or, for those getting into the spirit, a cocktail.

The evening’s main will be baked pasta masterpiece timpano: the same showstopper featured on screen. Settle in with boxed serves courtesy of Fleming, a top South Australian chef who starred at fine diners including the seminal Orana before launching catering outfit Forgotten Seasons. His delicious fare fuses comfort with finesse.

Every special occasion deserves dessert. Here it will be offered in the Piccadilly lounge during an intermission and prepared by Palmer, executive chef and manager of the Clare Valley’s Watervale Hotel. Its restaurant – named best in the world by Corporate LiveWire and best culinary experience in the world by LUXlife Magazine – offers a transcendent farm-fresh menu.

Big Night follows two Italian immigrant brothers on the Jersey Shore during the 1950s as they try to make it in the restaurant business. Food features, of course, but so too does the importance of love and family. And whether you saw this classic on release or are just discovering it, a night at the cinema never looked better.

INCLUSIONS –

  • Food: two snacks, main course (pasta dish timpano), dessert
  • Beverages: one drink on arrival (wine, beer or negroni), with the option to purchase further drinks from the cinema bar during intermission

Our menus utilise regional produce at the height of its season and take months of careful planning. Many of the dishes featured will not be adaptable for particular dietary requirements.
