Come on in. This is Sunday dinner with comfort dialled up: hearty fare, the bustle of a busy room and leading hospo talent at the helm. Bring your tribe and be looked after.
We’ve assembled a dream team to put their spin on spaghetti bolognese. Two duos – Mug Chen and Chia Wu, together with Jimmy Toone and Jo Leal – are set to share the kitchen with Calum Horn of Adelaide’s Longplay Bistro and the Sydney-based Annita Potter.
Begin with a selection of snacks, then tuck into shared serves of the bolognese recipes on offer. We’ll have salad, garlic bread and, naturally, a luscious Italian-inspired dessert.
You know Chen and Wu from Muni, the McLaren Vale restaurant that earned immediate praise after opening. It emerged amid covid-era contemplation: an ode to their shared Taiwanese heritage in a venue guided by transcendent local produce.
Toone and Leal were also influenced by a changing world, launching their Secret Pizza Club after travels in Japan. Its mission: staples made with care for every detail. A more recent pasta offshoot is also delighting diners.
Horn is head chef at Longplay, created to conjure the best kind of meal at home with friends. Byron Bay’s Barrio and the Summertown Aristologist are among highlights of his career to date.
Bold, original Thai food has become a signature for Potter. She opened Woolloomooloo’s Viand after more than two decades in global kitchens, including time alongside maestro David Thompson.
Six chefs, one very special service. Welcome to the club.
