Join Richard Angove – current custodian of St Agnes, Australia’s oldest continuously operated family-owned distillery – for an XO brandy masterclass showcasing unparalleled distilling excellence. Celebrate 100 years of crafting world-class brandies: a truly patient art. This St Agnes masterclass will be the only public opportunity to taste the oldest bottled spirit in Australia, the ultra-rare St Agnes XXO 50 Year Old Exceptional Reserve, along with the full range of St Agnes XO brandies including the XO 40 Year Old Grand Reserve, XO 30 Year Old Centenary Reserve, XO 20 Year Old Imperial and the St Agnes XO 15 Year Old.
Also set to host the masterclass is Luke McCarthy, a leading Australian spirits commentator renowned for his deep dives into the world of whisky, gin and beyond. With a background as a bartender, writer and spirits judge, McCarthy has travelled extensively, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a critical eye to the nation’s burgeoning spirits scene.
Each year since 1925 the St Agnes Distillery and Barrel Halls have carefully and characterfully handcrafted brandy that is a testament to the rewards of time, age, ambition and craft. Historic copper pot stills, handcrafted and installed by H. Jennings of Adelaide, have been used to craft every drop of St Agnes Brandy, giving it a unique signature and style. All St Agnes brandies are matured in small oak barrels until the master distiller determines they are ready for blending and bottling.
With more than 100 years of distillation experience, the team at the St Agnes Distillery have a clear purpose: to create Australian spirits of exceptional world standard with a unique Australian expression. In all that time, just six master distillers have been learning, preserving and passing down their art.
