Cooking for One (and Loving It)
Wed 13th May 2026 at 10:00 AM
Presented by the Maggie Beer Foundation & HomePlate Get ready to discover the joy of cooking for yourself!
Fun, fast, and full of flavour, this upbeat live demo flips the script on solo cooking and celebrates it for what it truly can be - delicious, empowering, and deeply satisfying. In just 20 engaging minutes, we’ll showcase clever meals for one that are big on taste, light on cost, and wonderfully practical for everyday life. You’ll pick up smart tips, fresh ideas, and simple tricks to make cooking feel exciting again.
Inspired by HomePlate - the Maggie Beer Foundation’s national project funded by the Wicking Trust, reimagining the way older Australians eat and thrive at home - this session is all about confidence, independence, and pure culinary enjoyment.
You’ll walk away with handy resources, and a spark of new motivation for your own kitchen. Plus, you’ll get an inside look at the HomePlate journey: what we’re hearing from older people across Australia, and how those insights are helping create a future where everyone has access to vibrant, nourishing food. Come along, soak up the energy, taste the difference, and fall head-over-heels for cooking for one.
It’s joyful, it’s tasty - and it might just change the way you cook at home!
