Every home cook has their classics. The tried and true – dishes so familiar you can make them from heart. Ready to liven things up?

This fun new series brings South Australian chefs and top local producers into Town Square to share their specialties. Grab a drink or bite to eat, then gather around shaded tables beside the Journey Beyond Lounge and see how it’s done. Game, focaccia, seafood, pickles, sausage and more will be in focus across free 45-minute sessions set to inspire your next kitchen triumph – and maybe even make it into high rotation.

Pickles and Ferments with Jessie Spiby, My Grandma Ben and It’s Olio

Being a rebel comes naturally to Jessie Spiby. A rebel of waste, that is – determined to make sustainability tasty by pickling and preserving abundant local fruit and veg. Why send perfectly good produce to the green bin when it really belongs in a jar? Pickling and fermenting are at the heart of My Grandma Ben, the Bowden café she has co-owned since 2018. This Town Square appearance will delve into the basics, showing you how easy it is to get crafty in your own kitchen.

Spiby will be joined by café colleagues and a guest from It’s Olio – producer of fine South Australian extra virgin olive oil – for a session set to enliven the surplus harvest in your patch and beyond.
