Izakaya Night

Tue 12th May 2026 at 6:30 PM

Price $225

This is more than dinner – it’s a hands-on sake and izakaya workshop for all lovers of Japanese food and drink culture.

Step beneath the glowing lanterns and through the dark, moody interiors of Yakitori Takumi – one of Australia’s oldest yakitori specialty restaurants – to experience a time-honoured cultural tradition that will transport you to the streets of Tokyo.

Chefs will prepare 12 izakaya dishes crafted from South Australian produce, paired with six sakes sourced directly from Japan. You’ll discover what works together and why, and how to identify flavours from plate to glass.

Learn the intricacies of sake – one of the most fascinating and complicated drinks in the world – from how it’s made, variations between style, and why it acts more like a wine than a spirit. Come with a hungry mind and stomach, leave with the confidence of how to match Japanese food with the iconic Japanese beverage.
