Good Neighbour - Jason Roberts x Cheong Liew
Fri 15th May 2026 at 7:00 PM
To call Cheong Liew OAM a legend barely begins to explain. Describing Jason Roberts as a star feels far too vague. But we must start somewhere. The whole story? It’s on the table.
Be there as this lauded duo take over the Good Neighbour kitchen for a dream Friday night meal. Claypot chicken will serve as centrepiece, together with sides capturing the layered flavours of Asian fare.
Liew will be at work within a stone’s throw of the Hilton Adelaide, where his 14 years leading The Grange restaurant proved revolutionary. Born in Malaysia, he became a self-taught chef not long after arriving in South Australia – scratching plans for a career in electrical engineering and instead following his passion through Greek restaurant Iliad and on to the masterstroke that was Neddy’s. He’s been named among the 10 hottest chefs alive by US-based Food & Wine Magazine and, quite simply, redefined Australian food forever.
Sydney and New York are dual homes to Roberts, who grew up in New Zealand among a family of culinary professionals. He spent seven years as executive chef of Bistro Moncur, then moved into media as host of cooking show Fresh. American audiences know him through a wide range of television appearances, while his three cookbooks have also been warmly received in home kitchens. For the past decade Roberts has been executive chef of The Bistro at Manly Pavilion, offering a refined menu in sync with its coastal surrounds.
