Maybe you once learned the basics of food and drink pairing. But it’s also possible that guidance came from an era that assumed lavish meals (and some fairly obscure ingredients) were the norm.
Let’s make it modern.
Join restaurant professional Meira Harel and winemaker Adam Foster for this deep dive. We’re talking matches like fried chicken and chardonnay – plus a look at beer matching too.
Harel -- a Tasting Australia Festival Curator -- honed her expertise across top Australian restaurants, among them Adelaide favourites like Press Food and Wine, Peel Street Restaurant and Leigh Street Wine Room. She's a former Age Good Food Guide Victorian Sommelier of the Year and today focuses on growing wine education and development for the next generation of South Australian professionals.
A lifelong interest in food and wine led Foster first to professional kitchens including Daylesford’s The Lake House, then to work as a sommelier and ultimately into the vineyard. Today he is based in the Heathcote district in central Victoria, using its cool-climate shiraz in his label Syrahmi and releasing whites under his Garden of Earthy Delights offshoot.
Explore the concepts behind food and drink pairing in a way that builds confidence, inspires culinary adventure and can also revolutionise your home repertoire.
