Part zoology lecture, part marine science, part seafood tasting – this unique masterclass dives into the fascinating world of South Australia’s waters, breaking down the taboos around the algal bloom.
Seafood is the planet’s most diverse animal protein: thousands of species are fished and farmed, offering a powerhouse of flavour and nutrition. But with the recent South Australian algal bloom putting seafood under the microscope, many are left wondering what’s safe to eat..
Guests will dive into the fascinating world of South Australia’s marine life with Associate Professor Zoe Doubleday, zoologist at Adelaide University. Zoe brings her passion for marine education and her knack for demystifying the lesser-known creatures of the sea, and Associate Professor Alison Turnbull, marine toxin specialist, will reveal how to enjoy seafood safely during this time of uncertainty.
The event will include a gourmet seafood lunch prepared by renowned chef Justin James, allowing guests to enjoy the bounty of all they’ve learned.
