Tasting Table - Syrahmi
Sat 9th May 2026 at 3:00 PM
See remarkable drinks afresh. Our intimate, illuminating Tasting Table sessions standouts from across the beverage world.
Winemakers naturally have a flair for flavour – but not all have also worked as a chef and sommelier. The multi-talented Adam Foster will share highlights from his Victoria label Syrahmi, together with expressions of syrah and grenache from French wineries significant in his journey.
Foster works among the granite boulders of Tooborac at the southern end of Heathcote, making Rhône-inspired reds from a block of high-density syrah. In 2008 and 2009 he became the first Young Gun of Wine finalist to win the award in consecutive years, pursuing the craft after cheffing at the likes of Daylesford’s Lake House and Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe and London.
Work at wineries including Torbreck, Chapoutier, Mitchelton, Heathcote Winery, Domaine Ogier and Jasper Hill helped Foster hone his style, with Syrahmi wines originally made using parcels of Heathcote fruit and now from his own vineyard. They will be offered here alongside the 2022 Pierre Gaillard Côte Rotie – a French standout close to Foster’s heart.
Gather at Longplay Bistro in Adelaide’s Pirie Street, loved for its warmth and wonderfully eclectic vinyl collection, to celebrate an unconventional path with remarkable results.
