Riverland

Clock on to river time: leisurely living where the days stretch before you. The next boat departs whenever you want, lunchtime is whenever you’re hungry and checkout is whenever you wake up. Stunning conservation parks, a thriving fruit industry and the beautiful Murray make the Riverland a great place for a family holiday. Journey along the Mighty Murray Way road trip, captain your own houseboat and cruise past ochre-coloured cliffs – or hire a canoe or kayak and paddle your way through the river’s secluded backwaters.

Local citrus features in award-winning spirits from Renmark’s Twenty Third Street Distillery. Stop by for a tasting – and stay for a meal in the on-site restaurant. Look for Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery 20 kilometres north of Renmark. A rich history, stunning riverfront location and beautiful gardens make it the perfect place to kick back and relax with a local brew.

An hour’s drive from Berri, the family-run Caudo Vineyard is the perfect spot to stop for a drop beside the river. Sip summery red and white sangria while watching wakeboarders and water-skiers zoom by. Feeling peckish? Pair your drinks with a delicious local tasting platter or cook your own lunch on tabletop barbecues. In true Riverland style this destination can be reached by boat or road.

Renmark’s Arrosto Coffee, River Jacks Café in Berri and Barmera favourite Flavours of the Riverland are among popular stops for fresh brews and light meals.
