Adelaide
Matchmakers - Fun Reds
Starts 17 May, 3:00 pm
Meet your match in these casual tastings. Each features a diverse lineup of winemakers from South Australia and further afield, ready to chat all things variety, vintage and very excellent vino. Treat it like speed dating: five minutes in conversation, then a chance to strike up a chat elsewhere.
Take another look at red wine – beyond the heft of its best-known varieties and to lighter expressions ready to enliven your collection. Bring them to a barbecue. Impress the in-laws. Heck: pour a Tuesday night glass just because you can.
A full spectrum of fun reds will feature here. Young Gun of Wine 2025 finalist Owen Latta of central Victoria’s Eastern Peake and Latta Vino is set to share nebbiolo.
Next-gen Coonawarra star Lauren Hansen – based between Penley Estate and Bloomfield Wine – will offer the aromatic mencia, with sangiovese courtesy of Adelaide-based Rob Cain and his label Cain Wines.
Pinot meunier is in the spotlight thanks to Jess DiGiorgio, who crafts limited release wines from cool-climate regions under the Bande Apart moniker.
Look for dolcetto courtesy of Anita Goode, owner and winemaker at Wangolina on the Limestone Coast, with cabernet franc made by McLaren Vale’s award-winning Lauren Langfield.
How well do you know cinsault, a versatile variety hailing from southern France? Try it by way of McLaren Vale in wines made by Simon Caica, wrapping up a Matchmakers session that could well reshape your red repertoire.
