Tasting Australia Club Series - Slovenian Club

You know the place but not the people. You know the building but not its bustle. Let’s change that. We’re going inside Adelaide’s treasured cultural clubs in celebration of all they offer – outstanding eating and drinking, sure, but also connection and new perspectives. Be there as top Australian chefs work the pass beside the cooks and volunteers who know it best, collaborating on meals to share stories of time and place. Welcome to the club.  

Slovenian cuisine excels at the kind of hearty fare we all crave on an autumn evening. The kind that draws you to the table and sees you shrug off your coat, cares forgotten. Versatile Australian chefs Tom Campbell, Denny Braden and Dan Puskas are ready to dial up Euro comfort at Dudley Park’s Slovenian Club. Fancy a kransky? We’ll have those too. 

Campbell grew up on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula and honed his craft in the fire-driven kitchens of Africola and IGNI before chasing opportunities abroad. Time in London’s Michelin-starred Leroy was followed by stints at Maos, Relae in Copenhagen, Japan and New York, then a return to local shores. He led the kitchen at Uraidla’s Summertown Aristologist and now co-owns acclaimed Piccadilly bistro Thelma, letting farm-fresh produce shine across its seasonal menu.  

Bradden, meanwhile, works from the nearby town of Aldgate where she is the owner and chef of retro café Dirty Dorris. Classic diner fare is its specialty, elevated through house-made condiments and fun fusion additions like prawn toast, sardine soldiers and ramen. 

Sydney-based Puskas has long been known for his work as co-owner and chef of Sixpenny, the Stanmore fine diner continuing to add its own chapter to the mod-Oz canon. His latest move? Updating cherished Hungarian-Australian restaurant Corner 75, its classic menu in an approach that melds heritage with the here and now. 

Come hungry. Leave happy. It’s the Slovenian way.
