The Global Cellar

Fri 8th May 2026 at 8:30 PM

$100

We’re taking this one global. Get yourself to our Drinks Academy for a tour de vino shaped by winemakers and sommeliers who know all the best bottles.

Nine grape varieties are in the spotlight, each showcased in an international and South Australian wine. That’s 18 tastings in total – a true chance to explore.

Get ready to discover:

United States
The celebrated André Heuston Mack will share selections from the United States alongside Tasting Australia festival curator Banjo Harris Plane, offering the intel that has seen him amass almost a million Insta followers. Mack left a career in finance to chase his passion for wine, earning plaudits as a sommelier before launching his own label. His ethos? Wine belongs on your daily table, not amassed in a collection or reserved for the elite.

France
Syrahmi winemaker Adam Foster is set to champion French wines, sharing favourites discovered during work and travels in Europe. Rhône-inspired reds are his specialty, made from elevated, granite-strewn sites surrounding Heathcote in central Victoria.

Germany
Germany will be covered by 2025 Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year Caitlin Baker, whose work at Canberra restaurant Such and Such centres on making wine more accessible. Look to South Australian winemakers Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood from McLaren Vale’s Ministry of Clouds for the kind of Spanish specialties perfect to pair with a casual bite.

Wider Europe
The Euro journey continues: we have Corner 75 restaurant manager Alice Tremayne with Hungarian standouts, Merivale head sommelier Piotr Szewczuk covering Austria, and Italian selections courtesy of multi-talented winemaker and hospitality consultant Marcell Kustos.

South Africa
Barossa-based winemaker Belinda van Eyssen of The Cutting will share treasures from her homeland of South Africa – the start of an international journey that prompted the launch of her sustainability-driven label on local shores.

Portugal
The gala will wrap with Seppeltsfield Para Tawny: a nod to Portugal as crafted right here in South Australia. Is there any other way to see out the night?
